Celebrating Ho Chi Minh, Malcolm X, and Yuri Kochiyama

Today marks the birthday of Ho Chi Minh (born 1890), Malcolm X (born 1925), and Yuri Kochiyama (born 1921).

We honor these three revolutionaries for their work toward a better world. We continue to learn from them and the struggles of their time in order to continue building alternatives to racial capitalism and imperialism.

Ho Chi Minh, Malcolm X, and Yuri Kochiyama all understood the importance of international solidarity. All colonized people, both in the Global South and the Imperial Core must stand together and recognize our shared struggles. True liberation only comes when all of us are liberated.

“If you do not condemn colonialism, if you do not side with the colonial people, what kind of revolution are you waging?” – Ho Chi Minh

“The only way well get freedom for ourselves is to identify ourselves with every oppressed people in the world. We are blood brothers to the people of Brazil, Venezuela, Haiti, Cuba — yes Cuba too.” – Malcolm X

“So, transform yourself first… Because you are young and have dreams and want to do something meaningful, that in itself, makes you our future and our hope. Keep expanding your horizon, decolonize your mind, and cross borders.” – Yuri Kochiyama
